A cup for each child
HOW TO PLAY:
CUP MOVEMENT VERSION 1 (easiest)
Sing "Re-" (holding cup in the RH with the bottom up) then start the pattern.
JR Primary Modification: Keep the cup in the middle of the legs instead of changing from side-to-side.
Here's the basic pattern, which you keep repeating as singing the song (ta-ta-ta-rest):
pat on legs - tap top - tap side - switch hand
So...
Pat/patsch (on RIGHT leg) - tap the top (with the LH) - tap the side of the cup with the same hand -
-dee---------------------------------ee---------------------------------mer
switch hand holding the cup. (Repeat pattern on the other leg with opposite hand)
of
Pat/patsch (on LEFT leg) - tap the top (with the RH) - tap the side of the cup with the same hand
-Is------------------------------------------------------------------------rael
switch hand holding the cup. (Repeat pattern on the other leg with opposite hand)
our

PARTNER MOVEMENT (Sr. Primary only)
LEVEL 1:
Instead of hitting the palm of the hand with the bottom of the cup (the closed portion), hit your partners and your cup bottoms together. Keep the rest of the pattern the same.
LEVEL 2:
Instead of hitting the palm of the hand with the top of the cup (the open portion), hit your partners and your cup tops together. Keep the rest of the pattern the same.
2. MELODY MAP RHYTHMS
WHAT YOU NEED:
Redeemer of Israel Song Melody Map
HOW TO PLAY:
Use as traditionally (ask kids to discover what colors mean, etc.)
This melody map is unique in that it uses rhythmic notes to also show the contour of the melody. The rhythms are not hard and in addition to using the melody map in the more traditional ways, you can also use and have the kids sing the rhythms as well!! :)
Quarter note = ta
Half note = too-oo
Eighth notes = titi (or one eighth note "ti")
Dotted Quarter note = tum (1 1/2 counts)
