1. TURKEY HEADBANDZ
WHAT YOU NEED:
TURKEY HEADBAND - printable available in Turkey Game packet in the library (register below)
Paper for headband
Paper clip
3x5 cards or post it-notes (prepared with words from selected primary songs)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut out the turkeys. Color the turkey if using the b&w one.
Cut out a headband from your chosen paper large enough to fit around a child's head.
Tape the ends together to create a headband.
Tape the turkey on the back of the headband.
HOW TO PLAY:
Call up a child to wear the headband, then stick a word card on it so they can't see it. Have the kids sing the missing word LOUDER and see if the child wearing the headband can guess what the missing word is. If not, sing the song again and have the Primary kids sing the song but NOT SING the missing word this time.

2. TURKEY GOBBLE
[Idea thanks to iheartprimarymusic]
WHAT YOU NEED:
Empty Clear Soda Pop liter bottle (bottom 1/2)
Turkey Head & Feathers - printable available in Turkey Game packet in the library (register below)
Cotton balls or Pom Poms
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut the soda pop liter bottle in half and keep the bottom half.
Cut out feathers and tape to the back of the soda bottle.
Cut out the provided turkey face and tape to the front of the soda bottle.
HOW TO USE:
Option 1 - Tell the kids the goal is to fill up the turkey's belly all the way... Sing the songs you are working on and give the children who are singing good a piece of "food' (cotton ball or pom pom) and let them feed the turkey (put the ball into the soda container). Walk around as they are singing and give out the balls.
Option 2 - As the kids sing a phrase of the song, tap a child who is singing good on the shoulder. At the end of the phrase, let them say something they are grateful for then feed the turkey.
Option 3 - Call on one child to come up and wear the hat and "gobble" a line of the song as the kids sing the words then feed the turkey.
[Note: You can also ask the kids to name KIND things they can do instead of things they are grateful for for songs like, "Have I done any good?" or "I'm trying to be like Jesus," and so on].
USE AT HOME AS A SHOOTING GAME:
Have kids stand back a little ways from the turkey and try and "shoot" the food into the container.
3. CATCH THE TURKEY
WHAT YOU NEED:
Turkey Puppet or Paper Turkey (available in Turkey Game packet)
HOW TO PLAY:
(Hot & Cold)
Send one child out into the hall while another child hides the turkey (needs to be at least somewhat visible). Call the child back from the hall and start singing. Have the kids sing SOFT when the child is far from the turkey and LOUDER when they get closer.
4. SHAKE IT UP
WHAT YOU NEED:
Clear bottle containers with corn in them
Use to shake to the beat as singing.
5. BROTHER TURKEY CAN SING...
WHAT YOU NEED:
Turkey body and feathers
Puppet (make out of a sock if you don't have anything else)
HOW TO PLAY:
It's always fun to have a special visitor to Primary!! Today we have Brother Turkey visiting! He's cute, isn't he?
Option 1: Tell the kids Brother Turkey is a bit shy and will only start singing if the kids sing their very best. This is a great way to get them to sing out and participate more!
Option 2: Direct/Lead the song with the puppet and let kids have turns doing the same.
Option 3: Make him "gobble" as the kids sing. When he stops, the kids freeze.

6. I AM GLAD FOR MANY THINGS
WHAT YOU NEED:
"I am Thankful For" Pumpkin Printable - in the printables library
Small ball or beanbag for passing around
While singing, pass around a beanbag or ball (everyone taps the beat on their knees until they get the ball then pass it on). When you say "freeze," whomever has the ball comes up to the front and picks out a blessing and add it to the pumpkin.
7. BUILD-A-TURKEY
WHAT YOU NEED:
A turkey of pieces so you can build it
HOW TO USE:
As the kids sing, tap a child to come to the front who is singing well and add a piece to the turkey. Keep singing and building till the entire turkey is built.
That's it. Enjoy, have fun, and happy singing!
8. THANKSGIVING SING-A-STORY
A very fun activity using several songs (see list below) corresponding along with the story of the first Thanksgiving.

WHAT YOU NEED:
Turkey printables - available HERE (external site)
Marker
Masking Tape
Bean Bags
Song playlist (optional)
PREP:

That's it. Enjoy, have fun, and happy singing!
Choose 12 songs on thanks (see sample list of songs below). You can choose anything you want. There are several songs in the back of the primary songbook under “Gratitude.”
1. Thanks to Thee p. 6 Track #4
2. I Thank Thee, Dear Father p. 7 Track #5
3. Father We Thank Thee for the Night p. 8 Track #6
4. Can a Little Child Like Me? p. 9 Track #7
5. Thank Thee For Everythingp. 10Track #8
6. I’m Thankful to Be Me p. 11 Track #9
7. Children All Over The World p. 16 Track #13
8. A Song of Thanks p. 20 Track #16
9. Thanks to our Father p. 20 Track #17
10. For Health and Strength p. 21 Track #18
11. For Thy Bounteous Blessings p. 21 Track #19
12. Thank Thee, Father p. 24 Track #24
HOW TO PLAY:
For Sr. Primary, invite a child up to come throw a bean bag at the turkeys (give them 3 shots and if they miss, it will be another child’s turn). When a turkey is knocked off the table, sing the song that matches the number on the turkey with your song list. Post the words to that song and play it on the CD, if desired. Repeat until all the turkeys are knocked off.
For Jr. Primary, play the song recording and invite the teachers to sing with me while a child tries to knock down as many turkeys as they can before the song ends. After their turn, put all the turkeys back on the table for the next child and next song.
VARIATIONS: Print and cut out 12 turkeys and tape them to the chalkboard. Number them 1 to 12 on the back and have bean bags tossed at them. If a turkey is hit, take it down and sing the corresponding song. Or, make one big turkey and tape it onto a round laundry basket…same idea. When a shot is made, you listen/sing the songs.
For Nursery, just play the 12 song recordings and let the kids toss bean bags at the turkeys for a while. Your little kids will LOVE it!
10. IF YOU'RE THANKFUL & YOU KNOW IT
[Printable and pictures credit and thanks to theprimarypad.blogspot.com]
WHAT YOU NEED:
Thankful Cards - in the printables library
Use the tune: If You're Happy and You Know It and change to "If You're THANKFUL
and you know It."
Have the kids take turns picking a card and everyone sings and does an action to it.
11. THANKFUL TURKEY
[Idea and photo thanks to Raigen Powell]
WHAT YOU NEED:
Large piece of butcher paper
Marker or Pens
Turkey body - make out of cardboard, poster board,
or construction paper.
HOW TO PLAY:
For the last ten minutes of both junior and senior primary, I had the kids draw what they were thankful for as they listened the “Thankful” and other songs about gratitude. As they drew, I had one class come up at a time and we traced each child’s hand to give this turkey some feathers! (A counselor helped me because it takes a long time!) Then I taped it up on the bishops door after church today. They loved how it turned out! And they loved trying to find their siblings’ and friends’ hands.
