It simple. Just print the poster out, attach the speedometer hand with a brass fastener, then you're ready to go!
As the kids are singing, move the speedometer around. Then the kids just sing faster or slower, depending on where you move the speedometer. (Note: You may need to briefly explain miles per hr. and how the speedometer works to the kids before using).
Sonic the Hedgehog Speed...
At "Sonic the Hedgehog" speed they all sing so fast they are basically NOT together anymore and all singing at a jumble. (Note: This can get a bit rowdy so make sure to not stay too long at that speed and teach the kids to keep singing and go right back to being together as you slow them down. Just PRACTICE WHAT TO DO a few times before playing and they should be fine).
You can also let kids come up and take turns operate the speedometer as well
If you want a simple way to play with the speed of any primary song, while teaching your kids a bit more about music, then these tempo cards are perfect!
With cute animal associations, the tempo description and BPM, all you have to do is hold up one of these cards and have the kids sing at that speed.
Or, call on a helper to come up and choose some different tempo cards.
