3. PICTURE A CHRISTMAS - SHADOW PUPPETS

WHAT YOU NEED:

Trifold Poster Board

Large Silhouette Christmas Nativity Scene - search online or purchase from Etsy or Ebay

Flashlight 

Laminate each nativity piece as it's own page, per the song, in the correct position

so that once placed over each other they make the nativity scene:

Picture a stable in Judea - stable only

Picture a sacred, silent night - stars

And can you hear the angels near - Angels

And see the star so bright - Big Star

Picture the kind and gentle Joseph - Joseph

Picture the mother, Mary, fair - Mary

And can you see so rev’rently the shepherds kneeling there - shepherds & animals

Picture the little baby Jesus - Baby Jesus 

It's very important that your pieces align so put them one on top of the other

so you see how it looks. 

Sing while layering the laminated sheets.

6. CHRISTMAS BELLS ARE RINGING

WHAT YOU NEED:

Finger cymbals for each child or for at least a few kids OR

small bells for the kids to ring.

HOW TO USE:

Let each child play individually or partner up with one child holding one finger cymbal and the partner hold the other. Tap the cymbals together, starting on beat 2 (Christ- MAS, RING, -2nd beat of -ing of ringing, etc.).

HOW TO PLAY:

Silent Night, Holy Night - rainbow above head from side-to-side

All is Calm - 2 small circles with RH on the left side

All is Bright - 2 small circles with LH on the right side 

Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child - circles around your head

Holy infant so tender and mild - right to left mid-body (stomach - level) back-and-forth

Sleep in Heavenly Peace - rainbow above head from side-to-side

HOW TO PLAY: 

The scarves pattern for this song is fairly simple. It has 4 main actions. The same pattern can be repeated for additional verses. During the “Asleep” Chorus, encourage children to “freestyle” with their scarves or ask them what actions they want to try.

CHALLENGE: Encourage the kids to come up with their own actions.
