Display the folder game up on the board. Put the pieces around the folder game on the board as well (magnets, tape).
Have the kids sing the first song phrase. As they do, go and tap someone to come up to the front. At the end of the phrase, say "PAUSE" and have everyone stop singing.
Ask the child at the front to choose one of the folder game figures (which has ways Jesus is our light). Identify the figure (the source of light) then read what's on the figure, show the group, then let that child add that figure to the board. Repeat song phrases and verses as needed until you've read and placed all the figures on the board. Bear testimony that while all the objects that give light are good, the best light we can ever have is Jesus, the light of the world and as we follow Him and become more like him, we will be filled with more and more light.

Move the flashlights in a rainbow arc overhead from phrase to phrase.
Variation: Turn the lights of and use flashlights as singing.
3. Light Ostinatos
WHAT YOU NEED:
Fingers to tap or rhythm instruments (egg shakers, maracas, rhythm sticks)
Tap the ostinato rhythm while singing the words.
Tap the ostinato and say, "The Lord is my light" over and over as the leaders sing the song words then switch and the kids sing the words while the leaders tap and say the ostinato. Variation: Divide the kids in half and let 1/2 sing the song words while the other 1/2 taps and says the ostinato, then switch.
4. Flipchart Images, Rearrange the Order, Matching, Word Order
WHAT YOU NEED:
The Lord Is My Light Images
Find and print out images that correspond to the song.
* Use images to display as learning.
* Display the images on the board out of order and invite kids to come up arrange in order as everyone sings.
*Make two copies of each image and place face-down on the board. Invite kids to come flip over images and try and make matches as everyone sings.
5. Rhyming Words Connect
WHAT YOU NEED:
Keyword Strips
Put up the keywords on the board. Invite kids to match up the rhyming words as everyone sings.
Or, just write the words up on the board all over randomly and let kids draw a line from one word to the matching rhyming word.
6. Ribbon Wand or Dance Scarf Movement
WHAT YOU NEED:
Ribbon Wands or Dance Scarves
Sing as you do the movement patterns outlined below (verse 1).
For verses 2-4 make up additional movements.
