Hey all! It’s Amy (Dr. A) here with some resources and ideas to help you with your primary singing time! I'm sure at some point most of you felt pretty terrified being called as a Primary Music Leader, yes?
As a music teacher who has taught in the school system, I've never really felt afraid about doing primary singing time but, even with all the music teaching experience I've had, it never ceases to amaze me how much I still have to learn! Now, I don't say that to intimidate you, but to remind you to BE OK WITH WHERE YOU ARE AT BUT NO SO COMFORTABLE THAT YOU AREN'T WILLING TO LEARN & GROW. :) How's that for advice?
So if you’re freaking out a little bit, remember that there are lots of resources available to help! Here's some of my top suggestions. It will give you good start.
1. Primary Singing Time Binder / Planner / Organizer
When I’m planning singing time, being organized is so important. I like to have a binder where I can keep everything organized and planner so I, the pianist, and any subs know what the schedule is. Here's two binder planners that will make singing time prep and organization a synch!

One of my first stops is always these Facebook groups. They are full of men and women posting their amazing ideas for singing time activities. When I’m planning, I’ll usually go straight to this group, search the song we’ll be working on and scroll through until I find something that fits for my primary. It’s also a great space to ask questions, get clarification on policy or lyric questions, or just vent about any issues you’re facing!

Camille's Primary Ideas - with wonderful ideas and lots of free printables, Camille's ideas are good at keeping things simple yet age-appropriate.
Primary Singing - this website has some simple, fun primary song activity ideas and flipcharts, as well as activity ideas for songs categorized by learning style.

7. A Children's Song Companion Book
