With all the song printables, instruments and more, wondering how to stay organized?

Wondering how to get things passed out and gathered quickly without wasting a lot of time?

Here's a few helpful tips and ideas...

1. SINGING TIME BINDER PLANNER

One thing that will make life as a Music Leader A LOT easier, simpler and more organized is a Music Singing Time Binder. With my "Primary Song" binder, you'll stay organized with quick, easy FILL-IN PLANNER PAGES you can tailor to your primary and semesters. Give copies to your co-music helpers, pianists, and presidency so everyone is always on the same page and prepared!

2. POSTER STORAGE BAG

As a Primary Music Leader you'll undoubtedly gather many posters and larger displays.

A big storage bag container for all your items makes for easy transportation and organized storage. Get one for storage and one for transportation. Pull out of the "storage bag" the items you need for Sunday and put them in the "transportation bag."

Here's two bags I find very useful for large poster and display storage:

3. Instruments, Dance Scarves, Ribbon Wands, Pool Noodles, Props & More!

How do you store all your physical items? How do you pass out and collect items?

When it comes to storage and passing out/collecting procedures, one of the easiest ways I've found to do this is to make CLASSROOM BAGS.

Fill a mesh bag with the items you'd like the kids to use, by class. (For example, if one class has 4 kids, put enough for 4 kids. If another class has 6 kids, put enough in the bag for 6 kids). Label each bag with the class name so it's easy to remember which bag goes to which teacher.

Then before singing time starts, put a bag under each teachers chair and let each class teacher deal with passing out and collecting. It saves time, energy and is super easy. Then all you have to do at the end of singing time is collect the bags and put them in your storage box or bag (see the bag I love to transport and store my instrument/prop bags below - #4).

The best price I've found for the most mesh bags is here, through Oriental trading (11 1/2" x 17"). Or check the dollar store for some mesh laundry bags as well!

4. INSTRUMENTS & PROPS TRANSPORTATION

& STORAGE

Once I have my classroom bags all made (see #3 above), they go in my collapsible tote bag(s).* I really like these bags. They make transporting my bags so easy. These bags measure 21.25" L x 13.25" W x 18.5" H when open and collapses to less than 2 inches.

5. SONG STORAGE

These mesh bags make storage and organization so much easier. I make a page front label that has the name of the song and everything that's in the bag** so I can tell in one quick glance what games and visuals I have for each song and easily find anything I need quickly. I alphabetize the bags by song title and keep them in a storage bin. Then all the items that go along with the song that will fit in this bag size, goes in there as well.

When Saturday rolls around, I take out the mesh bags for the songs I'm using on Sunday and put it in my storage basket (right picture above), grab my poster bag, my instrument/prop bag (see #3 above) and anything else I need, and I'm set.

Another option if you don't want to do the mesh bags are these Monaco Hanging Storage Bags, 15-Pack of 10 x 12.5-inch Clear Plastic Bags.*

**Example: Come Follow Me (song visuals, puzzle picture, color a picture, melody map, song story, flipchart).

BONUS: PRIMARY PROGRAM SONG TRACKER

It's nice to have a song tracker so you know what songs need what work, what you've done, and what you still need to do.  So, besides some fun Primary Program Song Bulletin Board Displays, a Primary Program Song Tracker is really nice to have as well.

Grab this 1-page song tracker (in the printables) and add it to the front or first page inside your primary music binder to make tracking all your Primary Program songs quick and easy. The 3 boxes (not ready, almost there and ready) gives you, in-a-glace, which songs are where. Write in pencil and change week to week or simply print a new page to fill out after each week's singing time. Either way, this Primary Program Song Tracker is easy & functional.
