Nativity Scene Crafts

Invite the children to set the pieces of a nativity set (or use the paper figures) in appropriate places as you tell them the story of Jesus Christ’s birth. Sing songs together about Jesus’s birth (see suggested songs below). As you do, look for opportunities to bear your testimony of the Savior.

Angels Cup Craft: Put together and move the angels around as singing.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Plastic Cup

Tape

Scissors

Angels cup printable

Small straw or popsicle stick

HOW TO MAKE:

Print out the angels cup pattern and angel figures and cut out. Tape to the plastic cup.

Tape each angel figure to a straw or popsicle stick.

Poke a hole in the bottom of the cup. Insert the straw or stick through the hole.

Why I Love Jesus

Sing songs about Jesus birth.

Invite the children to share why they love Jesus.

"I Love Jesus because..." activity page: Kids write around Jesus on the page reasons why they love Him, (or you write the reasons your little ones say for them if they can't write yet) then let them color the pages. (Available in the printables library)

Witnesses of Jesus Birth

I'll Be A Witness for My Lord

The birth and infancy of Christ were marked by witnesses and worshippers from many walks of life. Actively explore 12 witness stories with your kids by drawing cards (from the "Witnesses of Jesus Birth" play mat folder game), reading the corresponding scriptures, and finding clues as to what you learn about ways to worship and witness of Christ.

After drawing a card, reading the scriptures and finding clues as to how to worship and witness of Jesus, Sing/Listen to "I'LL WITNESS FOR JESUS."

What does it mean to stand as a witness of God the Father and Jesus Christ “at all times and in all things, and in all places”? (Mosiah 18:9).

How have you seen others act, speak, or look in ways that reflect their belief in Jesus Christ? What ways can you be a witness for Jesus? Talk about ways you can be a witness for Jesus, with or without the "I'll Witness For Jesus" folder game(Kids draw cards, read the scriptures and discuss, then add the card to the folder mat pages).

Let kids sing along with the "I'll Be a Witness" Kids Version!! - video coming

[Matthew 5:14–16 and 3 Nephi 18:24]

SEE ALSO: TESTIMONY (which is one of the ways to be a witness for Jesus Christ) blog post for ideas on sharing the gospel.

Good Gifts

The Wise Men gave Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. How can you use this story to teach the children that they can give gifts to Jesus too—gifts like love, service, and obedience*?

  • Good Gifts coloring pages - let kids color in the presents, each with a "good" gift they can give Jesus. Use the other presents page to let kids write in other "good" things they can give to Jesus.

  • I Want to Live the Gospel (Children's Songbook, 148):

--SITUATION STRIPS: Cut up the situation strips (in the printables library), "I Want to Live the Gospel Situation Strips"), let your kids draw one, read and decide if each is an example of living the gospel or not.

--PUZZLE: Cut apart the pieces and let kids put together as singing the song (in the printables library -

"I want to live the Gospel Puzzle").

--CHOOSE THE RIGHT FOLDER GAME: 5 games to help teach and solidify choosing the right (obedience).

Jesus Once Was A Little Child

  • Sing the song (Children's Songbook, 55) and follow-along with the video below (coming), which shares a fun story from the Friend ("Jesus Learned and Grew"), explained in easy-to-understand terms, about Jesus youth and what it means to grow in wisdom and stature, with examples of things kids can do to grow like Jesus.

  • Print out the Luke 2:40, 52 scripture trace and flower craft and folder game use along with the video and lesson. When you talk about each of the things you can do to learn and grow like Jesus, raise the flower up so it gets taller and taller, just like we do as we grow!

  • "Father's Business" (I Can Share The Gospel) coloring page - Let kids enjoy coloring this fun page as you discuss what it means to be about our "Father's Business"- in the printables library.

  • Also use the "Shine On" play mat folder game, which helps kids learn ways they can let their lights shine and ways they can share the gospel, which is one way we can "be about our Father's business."

You can also use the THIS page from the Friend with facts about Jesus.

How to Use in Singing Time:

After singing each song phrase, read one of the circles.

When Jesus Was A Child

What You Need:

Jesus Once Was A Little Child Folder Game

A simple, fun engaging way to teach children more about Jesus and how we can be like Him.

Let kids come up and match the circles with the text as singing.

This fun folder game let's kids learn more about Jesus as a child and the types of food that were available in that area and at that time, plus they get to sing about it all as well to the LDS Primary Song, "Jesus Once Was A Little Child."
