5. REVEAL A PICTURE
WHAT YOU NEED:
Holy Ghost Song Pictures
Picture of Priesthood power (1/4 of 8.5x11 page size)
HOW TO PLAY:
Display pictures face down on the board -in the order outlined below- and invite kids to come up and turn a picture over after each song phrase.
You can also have several kids come to the front, give them each a picture and have them arrange themselves in the correct order as everyone sings. Then repeat the song to check and see if the order is right. (Feel free to write in a keyword on each picture).
Before inviting kids up, ask them to listen for who and how the Holy Ghost helps.
Picture: Brain
When Christ was on the earth,
He promised he would send
Picture: Sad Girl
The Holy Ghost to comfort us,
Our true, eternal friend.
Picture: Adult/child Whisper
The Holy Spirit whispers
With a still small voice.
Picture: Jesus Sun Rays
He testifies of God and Christ
Picture: Heart/Happy
And makes our hearts rejoice.
Picture: FIND A PICTURE OF PRIESTHOOD POWER
2. And when we are confirmed
By sacred priesthood pow’r,
Picture: Warning Stop Sign
The Holy Ghost is giv’n to us
To guide us ev’ry hour.
Picture: Truth
Oh, may I always listen
To that still small voice.
Picture: Right/Wrong
And with his light I’ll do what’s right
Each time I make a choice.
10. HOLY GHOST - QUIET SOUNDS
WHAT YOU NEED:
Pictures of Quiet Sounds
Examples - baby sleeping, gentle stream, vacuum, rain, fireplace, heartbeat, the ocean, etc.
HOW TO USE:
See post HERE then go to #8 article, Quiet Calming Sounds.
11. HOLY GHOST - CHARADES OR SONG ACTIONS
WHAT YOU NEED:
Charades/Song Actions for each section of the song-in the GOLD LIBRARY
HOW TO PLAY:
[Sr. Primary - Charades
Jr. Primary - Song Actions only, or modified charades]
CHARADES
Invite one student up. Let them silently act out a phrase of the song. Students "guess" what the phrase is then sing it and copy the actions as they sing. (Note: Even if the kids know it, they have to connect the words with what they are seeing-related actions- and then sing it so it's a great way to review!).
MODIFIED CHARADES
Ask the kids which action (just do one) goes with this word or that word.
Example - When Christ Was vs. On the Earth
Do the action for Earth (hands make circle, high to low, LH traces down 1/2 circle while RH traces down 1/2 circle). Ask the kids if that action fits the word Christ or the word Earth. Then sing the phrase as you do the actions. Then have the kids sing the phrase and do the actions. Repeat for each section of the song. Then do a couple phrases at a time (sing and show first then have students repeat). Then repeat and sing the whole verse with actions.
*GET A SET OF SUGGESTED CHARADES ACTIONS IN THE GOLD LIBRARY
12. HOLY GHOST - HOT/COLD
[Idea thanks to Crystal Johnson Hunt]
WHAT YOU NEED:
Paper Laminated Dove
HOW TO PLAY:
Choose one child (the "seeker") to go out into the hall. Have another child hide the "holy ghost" (the dove). Explain to the kids that because we hear the Holy Ghost best when we are quiet, they will sing the loudest when the "seeker" is farther away and quieter as they got closer to where the dove is hiding.
The kids LOVE it!
13. RHYTHM STICKS
[Idea thanks to Sharla Dance]
WHAT YOU NEED:
Rhythm Sticks
HOW TO PLAY:
Rhythm stick pattern (patsch 3x, click, then add a challenge… stand in a different direction or do patsch on your shoulder), easier for younger, more challenging for older.

13. CUP MOVEMENT

14. MORE RHYTHMIC PERCUSSION (notebook/pencil)
[Idea thanks to Sharla Dance]
WHAT YOU NEED:
Pencil
Spiral notebook or something to "scratch" across
HOW TO PLAY:
See video starting at 11:40
15. HOLY GHOST MOBILE
A fun, simple way to learn about the Holy Ghost.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Holy Ghost Mobile printable - in the printables library
HOW TO USE:
After each phrase or verse, let a child come add an item about the holy ghost to the mobile. Read then repeat the phrase/verse or go on. Keep inviting kids up until the entire mobile has been built.
VARIATION: Make a mobile using the same idea but instead of facts about the Holy Ghost, use song word phrases on each of the mobile pieces and have the kids put that together as they sing.
16. MELODY MAP & HOLY GHOST CAMPING
WHAT YOU NEED:
Melody map - make your own or get one in the melody & squiggle map bundle - in the GOLD LIBRARY.
