1. NUMBER VERSE "CHEAT SHEETS"

What are Number Verse Cheat Sheets? They are numbers that represent the verses of the song, filled with pictures that represent the words of each verse.

Sing each phrase (and have kids repeat) as you show them the picture in each number, for each phrase of the song. Discuss VERY BRIEFLY how the picture relates to the song, if needed.

Plus, the black-and-white versions are perfect to use as a coloring activity while kids are singing or to send home with them for some good song review, to color and sing!

Hello and welcome to LDS Primary Printables. I'm so excited you are here!  LDS Primary Printables provides Come Follow Me, Gospel Topics, Primary Events, and Primary Singing Time Resources for Families, Primary Teachers and Primary Music Leaders.

2. I FEEL MY SAVIOR'S LOVE HEART PUZZLE

Get this puzzle + a melody map for the song on Etsy or in the Gold Library.

3. Song Puppet on Stick Figure

WHAT YOU NEED:

Jesus Hugging Heart Figure

Popsicle Sticks

Print on heavy cardstock. Cut out and glue to popsicle stick.

HOW TO USE:

Give each student a Jesus figure. During the song, each time you sing "I feel my Savior's love," and each "his" and "he" - raise the Jesus figure up and put Him over your heart. Make up other actions to do with the stick puppet as well (ex: make a circle for "...in all the world around me...").

You can also trace figure 8's in the air from side to side (to the beat), gentle and smooth,        with the stick figure.

You can also have the students conduct (in 2 easier, in 4 harder) with the stick figure as singing.

4. SIMPLIFIED ASL

The kids will catch on quickly with this simplified ASL version!

If you don't know sign language, like me, just do your best!

Make sure you know the signs beforehand... And if you find it's too difficult to sign the entire song...

ONLY SIGN CERTAIN KEYWORDS

Many leaders like to include at least 1 sign language song in the Primary Program, which I think is an awesome idea! If you want more tips & tricks for teaching ASL, check out Camille's ASL resources post for some handy tips and tricks.

Make some quick notes to reference, should you need it. Here's a few examples from the song:

  • Feel: take your left hand and “feel” or make a small circle using your chest with your middle finger
  • Savior: left middle finger touches right palm then right middle finger touches left palm
  • Love: arms uncross, extend outward, palms up and move outward across chest

5. SCARVES & WAVES OF THE SEA

WHAT YOU NEED:

Scarves for each student. Get some HERE or click picture below. (This is actually one of the cheapest, biggest sets of scarves I've seen. Granted the scarves are smaller in size but, you get 24 of them!).

(Note: Amazon affiliate link).

HOW TO USE:

Have students sing the song and move their arms forward and back, like the waves of the sea, sometimes getting higher and bigger and sometimes smaller and lower, depending on the song's phrase emphasis.

Then, introduce the scarves and repeat the wave motion, but with the scarves. Repeat and move the scarves side to side and around gently as singing. Repeat and pair up with a partner. Each person grabs one end of the scarf then gently makes waves up and down as singing. (Note: You need big enough scarves to allow this. If you only have small ones, get one or two bigger ones and let students take turns in pairs using the bigger scarves while everyone else uses the small ones).

6. MY SAVIOR'S LOVE

WHAT YOU NEED:

Prep by drawing a giant heart covering most of the board and stick the picture of Jesus with the kids in the middle. Put red hearts all around the room (or even under kids chairs).

HOW TO USE:

Ask the kids how many times they sing the word "love" in the song. (Sing it and count). Show me with your fingers how many times we sang the word, "love." That's right, three times.

How do you know Jesus loves you? (Take a few answers).

This time while we sing the song, we are going to tap the beat of the song gently on our hearts and each time we sing the word "love," we are going to draw a heart in the air with our fingers, like this...

Tap Your Heart & Draw Heart in the Air on "Love."

Good. Now, look around the room. Do you see hearts on the walls? This time when we sing it, three teachers are going to pick someone that is singing their best to go and get one of the hearts on the wall and bring it to the front and put it on the board in the giant heart.  Let's see if we can fill up the giant heart with ways Jesus shows His love for us. (Sing the song & choose teachers).

How Do You Know Jesus Loves You?

Note: Be ready to offer students suggestions like, "I feel Jesus' love when I see a pretty sunset," or "He gave me a family," or "He suffered and died for me." After the kids share their thoughts, have them put their heart on the board inside the giant heart.

7-8. REVEAL THE PICTURE PUZZLE +

COLORING  ACTIVITY

WHAT YOU NEED, REVEAL THE PICTURE:

Picture that represents the song, cut up into equal size squaresPlace (in order) face down on the board with tape or magnets.

WHAT YOU NEED, COLORING ACTIVITY:

Jesus coloring pages (2 of each) & crayons

HOW TO USE, REVEAL THE PICTURE:

Choose students who are singing good to come and flip a piece over, gradually revealing the picture. Repeat the song as needed till the entire picture is showing. Bear testimony of how you feel the Savior's love.

HOW TO USE, COLORING ACTIVITY:

Put two of the same Jesus coloring pages on the board or on a table. Invite a couple students at a time to come up and color for a few seconds (10 seconds? 15 seconds? - You determine the length). Repeat the song until the entire page is colored than let the entire group see it.

If you have Jr. and Sr. Primary together, you can have a "coloring contest" and let Jr. color one and Sr. color the other. Or Sr. against Sr. and Jr. against Jr.

9. MELODY MAP/SONG MAP

WHAT YOU NEED:

Melody Map and/or Song Map Visuals

Melody Map vs. Song Map Post

HOW TO PLAY:

Display the map pages on the board (out of order). You can ask the students different questions about the maps depending on their composition (Do you notice anything about these pages on the board? Colors...symbols, etc.). Ask the kids to help you put in the right order. Work & sing phrase-by-phrase. Sing through and check once done.

Next, as you sing again, have the kids come put the words (I/My, He/His, where they go on the map). Sing and check - kids only sing added words and you sing the rest. Switch as some point when they know the words better).

10. RIGHT WORD/WRONG WORD MAP

[Thanks to Janel for this idea]

WHAT YOU NEED:

Melody Map and/or Song Map Visuals

HOW TO PLAY:

Either you or the kids hold up each corresponding page as singing each phrase, stopping at the word pictures.  Then I asked the kids to guess which picture they think is right. "I feel my Savior's...what? Love or pain?"

Make sure to switch around which picture is correct from left to right so there is no pattern each time. The kids loved choosing the word, and if they chose wrong, sing it that way -only once-, so they can hear it and reconsider. After they learn it well (which usually happened pretty quickly), occasionally throw in a wrong word, and have the kids correct you.

I feel my Savior's love/pain

In all the world/house around me.

His Spirit warms my soul/hands

Through everything I see/eat.

He knows I will follow/play with Him,

Give all my life/toys to Him.

I feel my Savior's love
