[Idea thanks to Sharla Dance-see post link and video link below]

Write sets of questions up on the board (see the question list in link HERE

Questions pdf free in the printables library (register or sign in below).

HOW TO PLAY:

See the game in action in the video ABOVE (start at 8:29)

SR. PRIMARY - As you sing, let one child come up for each song phrase and circle the question that matches the phrase and cross out the others.

JR. PRIMARY - Instead of writing the questions, ask the kids before each phrase, to see if they can figure out which question you sing about. Then read TWO of the questions, one that is right and one that is wrong. (Ex: Does this phase ask about shepherds or herald angels?).

GAME VARIATION: Instead of words, use PICTURES - which pictures are not in the song          (see #4 SPOT IT below). Get the game in the song bundle

4. SPOT IT (Picture Version of Question Cross-Out)

Your kiddos will LOVE this SUPER FUN, SUPER UNIQUE Spot It game that will work for both Junior and Senior Primary... Challenge the Seniors with WORDS & PICTURE GROUPS and only use the picture groups for Jr.'s, while reinforcing the words, memory, and comprehension!

WHAT YOU NEED:

Spot It Song Visuals- 3 pictures per song phrase (1 correct and 2 wrong) -

6. HAND WAVES (WAVES OF THE SEA)

HOW TO PLAY:

Make small and big wave motions forward and back as singing.

(See a video example here, starting at 7:46).

RHYMING WORDS VARIATION, (you will need rhyming words strips or just write up on the

board as you sing). [This is a good one for Sr. Primary]

9. WONDER BAG

WHAT YOU NEED:

Bag full of items that relate to the song phrases -

Ex: Picture of Jesus 2nd Coming (I wonder when he comes again) and Angel figure (...will herald angels sing).

HOW TO PLAY:

Ask the primary if they WONDER what's in your bag. Tell one child at a time that they can see what's inside your WONDER BAG. Open the bag to give one item (staying in order of the song) and briefly talk about the related phrase. Present a few items (have the kids stay up front and hold each of the items), then sing the song up to that point then continue with the WONDER BAG, adding more items and singing. Bear testimony of the second coming of Jesus Christ.

10. SINGING IN THE ROUND

[Idea credit: http://intheleafytreetopsthebirdssing.blogspot.com]

Assign each class one of the questions to sing and then everyone sings the last part together. Rotate the questions/phrases and repeat until every class has had a turn singing each of the questions. For movement, you could have them stand and sing on their turn then sit.

4 CORNERS VARIATION:

Post each of the question phrases or visuals on each of the four walls around the room, e.g. one wall would have, "I wonder when he comes again, will herald angels sing?", then the next wall would have posted, "Will earth be white with drifted snow, or will the world know spring?" and so forth. Assign each class to stand by one of the walls along with their teacher(s). Everyone turns around and faces you—you'll be standing in the center of the room. You turn and face the first class and lead them as they sing their part, turning and leading each class as you go. When you finish the song, each class moves rotating to the next wall and phrase of the song. Repeat the process.

11. I WONDER...SONG VISUALS

[This is a great song introduction/learning game]

WHAT YOU NEED:

A large thought bubble, laminated.

Song Visual Figures - make your own or get them in the bundle.

HOW TO USE:

Tell the kids you have this thought bubble (show it and hold it up above your head to the side), which will show what things we wonder about Jesus's second coming. Then sing the song as you put the figures in the thought bubble (2 per phrase). Then remove the figures and put them up on the board as you add the next phrases figures to the thought bubble. Repeat till you've done the whole song. [See a video example here].

Variation: Pass out the pictures to the kids as you sing through the verse. Repeat and have the kids come put their images on the thought bubble as you sing the phrase (repeat each phrase 2x so the kids have time to come up and put on their pictures then for everyone to look at the pictures as they sing the phrase).

MORE VARIATIONS:

Use the song visuals for other games such as -

Option 1: Display the pictures on the board and gradually take 1 until they are all gone.

Option 2: Fix the Order - Rearrange out of order and let kids put in the right order. Repeat the song (of course!) to check.

Option 3: Make 2 copies of each and use as a matching game.

12. PLASTIC SPOONS

[Idea thanks to Sharla Dance]

WHAT YOU NEED:

Plastic spoons (2) for each child

HOW TO PLAY:

Point to self (on "I wonder")

Hit outwards - move each spoon forward 1-2

("when he")

then Click together 1-2 ("comes a-"), out-out ("-gain).

Keep repeating pattern as you sing the verse.

VARIATION: Add in actions then tap the spoons to the beat as in the video below (starting at 7:30).

13. COME TO JESUS BOARD GAME

[FOR VERSE 2]

WHAT YOU NEED:
