1. DIRECTED LISTENING

First Verse: As I sing, see if you can figure out how many times I sing "Jesus."

After, ask the kids and take answers. Let's see if you are right... Sing the verse again with everyone counting.

Second Verse: have the kids count how many times they hear the word "I."

Repetition: Have the kids count how many time they hear the word "Jesus" and "He/His/Him"...

Good, now in the first part of this song, can you figure out what Jesus walked in and grew in... (for Jr. Primary maybe just do one at a time). Sing the first phrase then stop and ask if they figured out what Jesus walked and grew in (wisdom and grace). Have them sing the phrase with you. Now listen for what Jesus wants to do (guide me)... You get the idea.

Keep asking questions and having them listen for specific things.

3. Concentration Matching Game (2 each of 6 pictures)

4. Step, Cross Clap, Step back movement

5. Sign Language (see below)

Older

2. Complicated Scarf pattern with partners (see below or make up your own pattern)

3. Concentration Matching Game (2 each of 10 pictures/words)

4. Paper Plates step and swirl, cross tap, step back, patsch

5. Sign Language (see below)

This song is gentle, but earnest. The concepts are abstract (walk in wisdom, grow in truth, etc.), so it is hard for a child to visualize the meaning of the words. However, with gentle movement, interacting with visuals, and repetition of the words as you do a variety of activities, the children will feel the Holy Ghost testify.

2. Scarf Patterns

WHAT YOU NEED:

Dance Scarves for each child

HOW TO PLAY:

For Sr. challenge them by adding partners.

Jesus walked in wisdom - scarf lower to ground & move back and forth

Jesus grew in truth - up and down

He showed love to God & Man - circle up high, hand raised in air to chest level

Jesus wants to guide me - circle inwards towards self

Jesus shows the way - hand comes in and out as if pointing

Calling me to come and walk with  - back and forth above shoulder (like motioning for someone to come over)

Him each day - circles at midline

CHORUS

As I walk with Jesus - big side-to-side circles around midline

To my home above -  big side-to-side circles above head

He will bless me with His Spirit - scarf downwards over head and face down and repeat

And fill me with his love - big circles around self

Change my heart forever - touch scarf/hand to heart

And make me clearly see - scarf/hand up to eyes

I will walk with Jesus - big side-to-side circles around midline

And He will walk with me - big circles around self

Partners: Mirror each other - challenge kids to make up their own actions with their partner mirroring them then switch and the other person makes up the actions as their partner mirrors them.

Partner Variation (chorus only):

As I walk with Jesus - Change scarves back and forth

To my home above - same as above

He will bless me with His Spirit- partners throw scarf over their partner's head and each catch

And fill me with his love - touch scarf to partner's heart

And make me clearly see- scarf/hand up to partner's eyes

I will walk with Jesus and He will walk with me - partners crisscross hands and gently wave scarf back and forth.
