Perhaps you could assign each family member to read one or more of the statements the Savior made on the cross, found in these verses. Ask them to share what they learn from these statements about the Savior and His mission.
Let kids add the hearts to the Atonement folder page in the Atonement Kids Activity Bundle.
Invite students to imagine being one of the faithful onlookers depicted in the picture as you read. Encourage kids to follow along and ponder what it would have been like to be that person and to witness the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. After you have finished reading, invite kids to describe what thoughts and feelings they imagine the person experienced. Ask them what feelings they have for the Savior after reading and discussing the account.
Point out that Jesus suffered the Crucifixion because of His great love for His Father as well as His love for us.

Standing Up for What is Right (FAMILY)
Why did Pilate deliver Jesus to be crucified, even though he knew Jesus was innocent?
What lessons do we learn from Pilate’s experience about standing up for what we know is right?
Because Jesus suffered and died for me, I can repent and be forgiven. (PRIMARY)
Write the following sentence on the board, leaving blanks for the italicized words: “I can be forgiven when I repent because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.” Give the children clues to help them fill in the blanks.
Let kids write in things they can repent of on the activity page (or for younger kids, just say out loud things) - available in the CFM 2023 Kids Activity book, then everyone repeats the sentence each time something is named. Example: "I can be forgiven when I (add in the problem/sin here) through repentance because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ."
