Jesus Christ wants me to learn about and follow Him.
Tell the children about the Savior’s invitation, “Follow me,” found in Matthew 4:18–22. Do an activity where one child does an action and then tells the other children, “Follow me.” Invite the other children to repeat the action.
Help the children think of things they are doing to follow the Savior:
Activity 1: Sing “Seek the Lord Early” (Children’s Songbook, 108) to discover some of those things. (Or if the children don't know the song, play the recording and let kids listen for each item.)
Let kids draw cards, talk about the activity on the card and how the activity follows the Savior, then place on one of the blue Savior and children circle's on the play mat pages.
Ask: How can we “come unto Jesus” like in the story?
Have everyone stand up and take turns saying what they can do to come unto Jesus. With each idea, take a step toward the picture of Christ. Keep helping each other think of ways to come to Jesus, (use the I Will Follow The Savior folder game) until everyone is with Jesus together!
Do as I'm Doing (Children's Songbook, 276) Activity
1. Tell the children about the Savior’s invitation, “Follow me,” found in Matthew 4:18–22. Do an activity where one child does an action, inviting the other children to repeat the action as everyone sings, "Do as I'm Doing." Invite the other children to repeat the action. (Example: I'll help do dishes, follow, follow me...).
2. Using the tune, "Do as I'm Doing," kids sing the alternate lyrics about ways to follow Jesus. Let kids color in the pictures for each verse. (Grab the coloring page and suggested song lyricsFREE in the printables library under Kids Zone, titled "Do as I'm Doing - Follow Him").

Tell the kids the Lord wants us to learn and learn of Him.
Tell them it's a good things they've been learning to count in school because you need them to count the items on this page to break the scripture code so we can learn about what Heavenly Father has said about learning.
Show the kids the activity page. Let them count the pencils then look up the scriptures and read.

To help your family prepare to learn from the New Testament this year, you could read the parable of the sower. (Choose from the list of activities in The Parable of the Sowerpost.)
Your family might enjoy going outside and looking for the different types of ground described in the parable. How can we make our hearts like the “good ground” Jesus described? (Matthew 13:8).
Let kids add the fruits to the tree as you read Galatians scripture.
The beginning of the new year is a good time to hold a family council about making your home “a sanctuary of faith” and “a center of gospel learning.” What ideas about how to do this come to mind as we read Galatians 5:22–23 and Philippians 4:8? Maybe your family could set personal and family goals to study the New Testament this coming year. What can we do to remind ourselves of our goals?
As you talk about things you can do, let kids add them to their "Sanctuary of Faith & Center of Gospel Learning" home page (in the CFM 2023 Kids Activity Printables Jan-June in the PRINTABLES LIBRARY) by writing them in or drawing a picture of each thing you discuss.
