2. COUNT THE "-LY's" & ANSWER
THE QUESTIONS
[Idea thanks to Camille's Primary Ideas]
WHAT YOU NEED:
3 Degrees of Glory, Video Game Style "Levels" Printable (FREE in the library - login/register below)
HOW TO PLAY:
Ask the kids to count all the words that end in “ly” [10] as you sing. Have them hold up their fingers to show their answer. Repeat the song to check answers. You make a guess as well...It’s always fun if you’re wrong on purpose and have them correct you ;).
Add the words up on the board. Ask the kids:
- What do we do lovingly? [think of thee]
- What do we do softly? [sing our melody]
- What do we do humbly? [pray]
(To humbly pray is to be ready to repent and obey Heavenly Father)
- What do we want to be with us in our hearts? [Holy Spirit]
Take answers to one question at a time, singing to that point in the song, check answers, then add the picture under the words on the board. Then go to the next question and do the same. Repeat until you've added all the pictures. Then repeat the song again as you point to the words and pictures (or let a child come up and point as everyone sings).

3. SONG MAP
WHAT YOU NEED:
Reverently, Quietly Song Map
HOW TO USE:
Display the bigger patterns on the board (8.5x11 or 12x18). Trace your finger along the shapes as everyone sings. Invite kids to come up and trace as everyone sings.
OR, pass out the smaller song map cards to the kids and let them trace in their seats as they sing.
(Note: To make the smaller student song maps, cut out each 1/4 page square and tape two red swirls and swirl line together to make a complete set).
First swirl: Reverently / Let thy holy
Second Red Swirl: Quietly / spirit dwell
Swirl line-rest of the phrase (ex: lovingly we think of thee);
Then repeat tracing the 3 cards for each song phrase.
If you are confused about what a MELODY MAP is vs. a SONG MAP, you can check out my blog article on that here.
4. MELODY MAP
WHAT YOU NEED:
Reverently, Quietly Melody Map
Note: On the 7th melody map page, you will need to take a gray crayon and make the 4th circle on that page an oval (for the "-ly" of the word holy).
HOW TO USE:
1. Display maps on the board. Ask the kids if they can figure out why some of the circles are "squished." Sing the song as pointing. (Each dot is a note of the melody).
Add in colors to make it easier or keep all gray for more of a challenge. If you add in colors, ask the kids to figure out which colors go with which words during the song repetitions.
2. Take the kids answers about the squished circles (answer = goes to each "-ly" word).
Repeat singing but the kids only sing sing the "ly" ' s and you sing the rest. Repeat and switch - the kids sing all the words except the "ly" parts.
3. Play other games with the melody maps:
- Mix Up Order and let kids put back in order
- Add actions to certain colored words and have the kids sing those in their heads while doing the actions and vice versa.
- See MELODY MAP vs. SONG MAP blog article for more ideas.

WHAT YOU NEED:
Song Word Strips
HOW TO USE: (Picture/Word Match)

HOW TO PLAY: (This or That) - for Sr. Primary
Display words on the board in sets of two, with one right word and one wrong word. Let kids choose this or that for each of the main words and place in a line on the board horizontally. Sing through the song to check if right. Fix if not and sing again as pointing to each word.
